A quick search of t'internet suggests the Denon HEOS app sorts tracks by the Title tag. Now, in my folder view when i open any album songs are sorted alphabetically. And PLEASE make the volume adjustment with the phone's physical buttons LESS SENSETIVE !!! I started to watch a movie and the volume was not ideal, open phone, then the app, find the volume control (more hidden since update), play Tetris with the slider, too loud, now too soft and when I was finally done, the intro to the movie had passed and I missed it! Every other app, the physical buttons adjust it a tiny bit, YouTube, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, etc. Have to force stop to use it again, same problem. Then open your Heos App and select Local Music and you should see your folder. Since the new update, when I try to play music files on my phone, the app starts locking up and within the first minute of playing a song, freezes and everything stops. I can stream to another group ( a Play 1 in the kitchen) with no problems.

UPDATE 5: IT WORKS You have to request the firmware update (2.1.680) through the heos app.

10/15/21 So I've emailed the company, at their website and here, no response. UPDATE 4: Requested a firmware upgrade through the Heos app and they responded that it should go through within 24-48 hours. But when I select a given artist and then attempt to play a song, the app displays, 'No results for ''. TIA.10/30/21 New Update ! "Are you Enjoying This App?" NO !!! After an update, hoping I could now play my music files, I window pops up, "are you enjoying this appp" with no buttons to press, app locks up AGAIN, must force close. When I select 'This Phone' and then 'Artists' from the Heos app, I see a list of music stored on the Micro SD Card of my phone. Would welcome any feedback / solutions from those who have gone through the same issues.

Have to search for a particular song / album / singer (very rudimentary search) or use their recommended tracks / playlists (good recommendations but that portion of the app is quite buggy too - you select one track and it plays something else for no reason quite often).

However, the Amazon Music HD portion of the HEOS app (whether on Android or IOS devices) is extremely bad. After I heard this, I cancelled my Tidal HiFi and Qobuz Premier accounts. Using the HEOS app linked to my Denon (ie: using the streamer present in the receiver): Relatively FANTASTIC SQ.

I know, was hoping there was a work around as I have purchased a Denon HEOS Amp and Bluetooth is unfortunately not ideal, although does work, but the album artwork is not displayed unfortunately. The HEOS app does not support Apple Music.
